With a busy January out of the way it’s about time we introduce you to the newest member of the JustinMcClure.tv team. Travis Krause, motion artist, is taking the bull by the horns. As a previous intern his design work, attention to detail and beard landed him a full-time gig. Travis has more than seven years experience in graphic design and will be a great fit for our clients’ needs as we continue to grow in 2011.
Travis has already shown his talent on a few big projects this past month and we look forward to seeing what else he can pull out of his bag of tricks.
Two companies, GA and Pure Red Creative recently combined their creative forces into a single, unified front. In celebration of the union they asked us to create some online animations for their new site honoring the event. We combined some detailed 3D renders with slick typographic animation to strengthen the concept of two things coming together harmoniously. Head on over to their website to check out the animations.
The new year has brought in a lot of great projects. Some with new clients and some with familiar faces. Last year we worked with Brothers & Company to create some pretty awesome spots for Kansas Strong which you can view here. This year Brothers & Company is back and we recently did some post-production for their newest Kansas Strong campaign “Routines”. The first spot in the campaign features things in your morning routine that without oil and natural gas would not be possible. Can you imagine what it would be like if you couldn't brush your teeth, blow dry your hair or make coffee?
In January, Justin presented his Top Ten Survival Techniques for the Thriving Designer to AIGA Oklahoma. The presentation goes through steps of the creative process, tips on how to grow as a designer and how to get paid as a freelancer. Justin also shares his belief that making waves can help one grow creatively and professionally in the design industry.
Using animation is a great way to bring several pieces in a campaign to life. While we were snowed in, GA gave us the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities by putting together an animated recap of Old Navy’s summer 2010 marketing campaign.
Making swimsuits, flip flops, postcards and in-store displays come to life was a breeze. Waiting for summer to get here so we can wear our flippy floppies is killing us.
In January, the Wichita Business Journal mentioned us in an article about our friends over at Start-Thinking. The article talks about how businesses are building custom solutions using technology that isn't already available. After searching for and not finding a tool that would allow clients to interactively request changes, we decided to develop one of our own that is tailored to fit our needs. We hope to launch the site later this year.
The Superbowl is a great excuse to watch commercials without being made fun of by your friends. If you live in Kansas, you may have seen a spot for the Kansas Health Foundation during the big game. We helped Sullivan Higdon & Sink bring their storyboards to life in the :30 spot that aired locally on FOX. We brought in Jason Dewey from Forge Motion Pictures to lend a creative eye as the Director of Photography and we crammed 12+ people into a converted office space to pull off the shoot. Even though we smelled like a bunch of hippies from all the incense we burned to create the smoke, everyone involved had a great time and the final product was a great success.
